Where to Find the Best Breakfast in Prague

March 9, 2015 By Andrea

Where to Find the Best Breakfast in Prague | whyroamtravel.com

I don’t know about you, but I love a good breakfast.

On the weekends, a cup of coffee and a quick pastry just doesn’t cut it.  I like to take my time, relax and linger over breakfast.  Oh, and completely fill my tummy too.

Prague has quite a few places that do a great job with breakfast.  The dilemma is not just what to order, but which breakfast joint to visit on any given weekend.

Below are a few of my favorite places to go for breakfast in Prague.

Top 10 Things to Do, See & Eat When Visiting Brussels + A Magazine Feature

February 10, 2015 By Andrea

Top 10 Things to Do, See & Eat When Visiting Brussels | whyroamtravel.com

Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, is centrally located. It’s two hours or less away by train from a handful of other major cities like Paris, Amsterdam, London and Cologne, just to name a few. This makes Brussels a perfect hub and stopover city when traveling around Europe.

Brussels offers plenty to see and do, but even if it’s not your destination city when traveling and you only have a short time, you can still get a good taste of the city – both figuratively and literally.  And by literally, I’m referring to Belgian chocolate, waffles, fries and beer.  Yum!

If you’re planning a trip to Belgium, be sure to check out my list in the Insiders Abroad E-Magazine for the top 10 things to do, see and eat when visiting Brussels.

To check out the top 10 things to do in Brussels, jump to page 26. Just click on the magazine cover below.

5 Best Things I Ate in Prague | WhyRoamTravel.com

When I first arrived to Prague, I seriously wondered what in the world I was going to eat for the next several months.  Although the typical Czech cuisine of sausages, beef, duck, chicken and more sausages doesn’t tempt my taste buds, I was able to find some really great options for eating out.

Here are the 5 best things I ate while in Prague.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Prague

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Prague | WhyRoamTravel.com

Although typical Czech cuisine consists primarily of hearty meat dishes, you can also find some great vegetarian restaurants in Prague.

When I first arrived to Prague, I wondered what in the world I was going to eat when going out since other than fried cheese, my options were sausages, beef, sausages, duck, and more sausages.  Although Prague doesn’t stand out as a vegetarian friendly city, there are a few gems that won’t disappoint when you visit the City of Spires.

Ladurée vs Pierre Hermé: A Macaron Taste Test

January 7, 2015 By Andrea

Ladurée vs Pierre Hermé: A Macaron Taste Test in Paris | WhyRoamTravel.com

Although macarons have never really appealed to me, I made it my mission while visiting Paris to discover what all the fuss over the bite-sized French sweets is about.

In case you’re not familiar with macarons, they’re made of two almond meringue discs and filled with a layer of buttercream, jam, or ganache.  They come in a multitude of flavors and colors.  They’re also not the cheapest thing in town, as each bite-sized sweet will run you about €2.

When it comes to macarons, there are two pâtisseries (pastry shops) that are famous in Paris, and the world over, for their rainbow assorted sweets: Ladurée and Pierre Hermé.

Since these two are known as the best of the best, I set out to do a (completely unscientific) taste test by sampling macarons from each pâtisserie.
