March 9, 2015 By Andrea

Where to Find the Best Breakfast in Prague | whyroamtravel.com

I don’t know about you, but I love a good breakfast.

On the weekends, a cup of coffee and a quick pastry just doesn’t cut it.  I like to take my time, relax and linger over breakfast.  Oh, and completely fill my tummy too.

Prague has quite a few places that do a great job with breakfast.  The dilemma is not just what to order, but which breakfast joint to visit on any given weekend.

Below are a few of my favorite places to go for breakfast in Prague.

5 Best Things I Ate in Prague | WhyRoamTravel.com

When I first arrived to Prague, I seriously wondered what in the world I was going to eat for the next several months.  Although the typical Czech cuisine of sausages, beef, duck, chicken and more sausages doesn’t tempt my taste buds, I was able to find some really great options for eating out.

Here are the 5 best things I ate while in Prague.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Prague

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Prague | WhyRoamTravel.com

Although typical Czech cuisine consists primarily of hearty meat dishes, you can also find some great vegetarian restaurants in Prague.

When I first arrived to Prague, I wondered what in the world I was going to eat when going out since other than fried cheese, my options were sausages, beef, sausages, duck, and more sausages.  Although Prague doesn’t stand out as a vegetarian friendly city, there are a few gems that won’t disappoint when you visit the City of Spires.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas in Prague

December 10, 2014 By Andrea

Christmas in Prague | whyroamtravel.com

The city of Prague is fully in the holiday spirit.  Many of the shops and cafes are decorated for the holidays, and there seems to be a Christmas market around every corner.  I think I’ve visited five Christmas markets so far (all in the city center), and there are still a few I haven’t made it to yet.

Christmas is my favorite holiday, and it’s been a nice surprise for me to see how much the locals get into the holiday spirit.

Although many of the squares around the city host markets, the main Christmas market can be found in the Old Town Square.  This is where you’ll find the city’s main Christmas tree decorated and twinkling with lights.

25 Years After the Fall of Communism in Eastern Europe

November 10, 2014 By Andrea

The John Lennon Wall in Prague | whyroamtravel.com

This year marks 25 years since the fall of communism in Eastern Europe.

Yesterday, November 9th, marked the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Next month will mark 25 years since the end of the communist government in the Czech Republic, which was then known as Czechoslovakia.

Most are familiar with the title “The Cold War”.  Most younger Americans hear about it in school.  It has something to do with the Soviet Union, and trickles down into why the United States is still in a heated arm wrestling match with Russia.  Both firmly planted, neither wanting to bend and a lot of trash talking in an attempt to psych out the opposing side.

I would bet most are also familiar with the Berlin Wall.

It was a wall in Germany.  It came down.
